Staple Food.

Hi its Lee from the Japanese Water Gardens.

Staple Food. What is it? When do you feed it? How much do you feed? Let me give you some answers to these and other questions.

Staple food is the perfect food to feed your fish on during the spring and early summer. It is a food that you can mix in with any leftover Wheatgerm food you have been feeding your fish on during winter.

Staple food is not as rich in protein as Growth food so it makes an ideal transitional food, It will will help to restore the fishes fat store and ready the fishes digestion for more high protein growth feeds.

Your fish will be actively seeking out food and may have a good appetite but i would recommend that you increase the amounts gradually. In spring feed 1 or 2 times daily, as much food as the fish can eat with a minute or 2.

A very important thing to remember with all fish food is feed fresh, store well. Even though fish food is a dried product and may appear perfectly appetising the minerals and vitamins contained within it are gradually being eroded. I never feed anything to my fish that has been opened for more than 2 or 3 months. It is for this reason I purchase fish food in small quantities rather than in bulk. Store it in a cool, dark and dry place. In a sealed container if possible.

After all who likes eating stale cake!
