Most of the algae issues can be controlled by the fish itself, today we will discuss 5 types of algae eating fish.
Plants usually keep the ecosystem in balance, Fish for decoration or love towards them, but there are few other kinds of fish they are your workforce in your planted aquarium to control algae. These species work in the backend for almost 24 hrs a day to keep your fish tank clean.
Algae eaters are only your helpers, but you need to keep the ecosystem inside the tank in good condition.

1. Black Molly - It may be surprising for you, but Black molly is the best algae eating fish, This fish eats all the hair algae and diatoms in your tank. These algae eaters are best introduced during the cycling that is during the initial stage of setting up your aquarium. Buying a baby black molly fish is better as naturally, it will need more algae as food to grow.

2. Siamese algae eater - These algae eaters when they are small eats away all your black brush algae or black beard algae. But as they grow and become adult they start eating fish food. There is also a caution, The fish flying fox looks exactly similar to Siamese algae eater. Read a little about siamese algae eater before buying them.

3. Bristle nose catfish/bristle nose pleco - This algae eating fish looks a liitle alienish but works wonderful in controlling algae in your planted aquarium. Bristle nose pleco is a dark loving fish that usually stays in the dark eats all the dead fish and dead leaves that are not even seen in the aquarium. Bristle nose pleco is a night time fish.

4. otocinclus affinis - This algae eating fish is a 100% algae eater. otocinclus affinis eat the algae on glass, leaves and on the plants to keep your planted aquarium neat and clean. Make sure you add a few algae to tank in the night if it's not available as otocinclus affinis need them for survival. Otocinclus is kept starving for weeks together for quarantine purpose, therefore feed some algae wafers in the night for about a week.

5. American flag fish - This alga eating fish is a rare fish But controls hair algae, black brush algae and of course fish food too. American flag fish is a wonderful algae eater.
