This is how to properly prepare freeze dried bloodworms for betta fish, guppies and neon tetras.
I use it for my 20g sorority with neon tetras and a divided 10g with my male betta HM and 2 guppies on the other side of the divider

Freeze dried bloodworms are a great nutritious treat that are cheap, come in a bulk, and have a long shelf life.
They are a great natural treat for freshwater and marine species which are rich in vitamins, as nutritious as live foods without the risk of outside parasites or bacteria, are high in protein, and enhance coloration.
The problem with many freeze dried treats for betta fish is that because the treats are dried, if you feed them directly to your bettas then the treats actually suck up all the moisture in their gut leading to swim bladder disease and abdominal blockage.
To prevent this, you will need to prep the freeze dried treats before feeding them to your fish.
The materials you'll need are as follows:
Small container/cup
Freeze dried blood worms
Toothpick or feeding stick
Vitamins (optional)
1.) add some tank water to your small cup or container
2.) pick out the bloodworms you want to feed and place them into the water to soak
3.) after soaking for 10 minutes, use your toothpicks and push the bloodworms in between the container with the stick. At this point you can add your extra vitamins.
4.) when rolling and pushing the bloodworms, you should see air bubbles come out of the worms. This means its working so continuing doing so
5.) use your toothpick or feeding wand to feed it to your fish. Dispose of the used tank water as you do not want to pollute your tank with such impurities.
*if you want to feed to smaller fish such as guppies, simply grind the freeze dried food in your fingers as if the food was flakes and feed in that manner.
So, that's how you prep and feed freeze dried blood worms properly to betta fish.
So that's how you properly feed freeze dried bloodworms to your fish, this can also be used for other treats and I find that this method greatly reduces the chances of bloating and is a great preventative.
