The dwarf gourami is a super popular aquarium fish because of its beautiful colors. These fish are actually really easy to care for when you understand their natural habitat. I have owned gourami fish for quite some time now and the Neon Dwarf is my favorite of the species.

I always like to urge the fact that you should be using an aquarium of a minimum 20 gallons. Even though the species of fish is only around 2 to 3 inches at full size and growth they can really utilize the extra space one swimming around. I don't think there's a single fish in the aquarium industry that I would advise housing in a 10 gallon aquarium but maybe a couple species might come to mind.
Because having more questions feel free to just hang out the comments section because I love answering questions about this fish. You can also visit the URL that I listed at the top it's a community devoted to gourami fish. So I've had my albino oscar for quite some time now, and I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that A: he/she been hiding alot more than normal, and B: the anus is quite enlarged? I put 10 Rosie's in the tank with him, normally hell have 2/3 over about 4 days and all of the Rosie's are still here? Any idea what could be going on?

could be infection from parasite from the rosie's you put with...interaction with your pet is needed for them not to get scared of you. He likes them. I had the Rosie's in a different tank for two weeks. And I do interact with my Oscar. I hand feed him/her every other day with peas? parasite can survive a long time, some stay over a month or longer..i suggest stop feeding him live fish and feed him proper foods, like veggies and fruit..does he eat what's in you r hand if you hand fed him? Pics? It can be one of two things, dropsy or constipation.
Hope it is constipation, feed him pealed peas, it will help flush him out, acts like a laxative for oscars and other fish. Rosys are better than goldfish to feed for sure but I would keep him on a clean diet. Veggies and pellets. If you want to give him live I suggest crickets or meal worms, not a lot though. Feeder fish can carry a lot of diseases and parasites. It could possibly be parasites aswell. If I were you I would act now before it is to late. If it is dropsy then it might be to late. It can cured if caught in time, but it is almost always fatal.

I'd does look like he's constipated, the anus is a darker color. And when you say pealed peas, what exactly do you mean? I buy frozen, then I throw about 4 of them into a bowl. Microwave it for a few secs, enough to unfreeze them but not scortching hot. Almost to a mid temp where its not frozen but at the same time not really warm, almost like room temperature. Add just a very small amount of water in the bowl before the microwave. Helps. After they come out, grab a pea, pinch a hole on the peal with your finger nails to create a hole. Squeeze the pea and the inside should come out. Feed away. I know only my fellow crazy Oscar people will understand this...but I'm so attached to my 3 Oscars. I baby talk to them, my Lutino let's me rub him, I come right in from work to check on them...Lol.
Tonight I gave them a little watermelon treat. My Lutino and my Red are hogs and ate all the melon. I felt so guilty that my little Tiger (he's at the bottom of the pecking order) didn't get any because watermelon is his favorite. So I went and got another piece and tricked my two fat heads to coming to one end of the tank and hand fed my Tiger his share of the melon. Am I losing my mind or what??
