10 Things Covered In the video:
# 1 They grow very fast
Let’s face it, allot of new fish keepers don’t have a ton of patience, we live in an instant gratification world.
Oscars are awesome for these kind of people because they grow very big, very fast and can make a huge statement in your aquarium. It doesn’t happen instantly but believe me under the right conditions these fish grow like weeds.

# 2 One of the most recognized fish and most mistreated
If you know nothing about aquariums and you just started researching setting up your first aquarium 5 minutes ago you’ve probably already heard of Oscars

# 3 Personality
When you think about a fish in an aquarium you don’t really think about them having personalities but I can assure you some do, especially Oscars.

# 4 Destructive and redecorators
As fish keepers we look at our aquariums as a place to house our pets and also a place to express ourselves and make our tank as beautiful as possible with fancy rock formations, driftwood and plants.
This is awesome but understand that your Oscars are gonna express themselves too. They will show you very quickly that it’s their tank, not yours.

# 5 Different types
There are several different types of Oscars out there, they all pretty much look the same except their color and the pattern of their color will be different, except for the long fin variety.

# 6 Tank Mates
When it comes to selecting tank mates for your Oscars the #1 rule you need to keep in mind is if it can fit in the Oscars mouth it’s gonna get eaten.

# 7 Diet

# 8 Tank Requirements
The general theme of this video is Oscars get really big so when it comes to setting up an aquarium for them I don’t want you to even think about a tank smaller than a 75 gallon but remember…..
wait for it….
Bigger is always better

# 9 Susceptible To diseases
Like any other fish in the hobby Oscars are vulnerable to diseases if you aren’t doing your job.
Keep the water too cold, introduce new fish that haven’t been quarantined and not keeping up with maintenance are all things that can increase the likelihood of coming down with common things like ich or parasites but there’s another one you’ll hear about every time you talk about Oscars and that’s hole in the head.

# 10 Great/Not Great for beginners
Look, we’ve talked about a bunch of stuff that hopefully helps you make the decision of whether or not you wanna keep Oscars. We’ve talked about them being very hearty and easy to keep. But does that make them a good beginner fish? Well yes and no
