Tank Decor - Sand for tank bottom, driftwood, rocks can be used. I dont use live plants as these fish I have eat plant Leaves.
Tank Mates - Severum fish are Semi-aggressive in my opinion. Few get along well in community tank & few don't. I have had Severum fish with Jewelfish, Green terror, Angel fish, Convict Cichlids & Oscars with not much problem. However aggression needs to be monitored & size advantage should be given to Severum.
