These fish are omnivores and the really easy to take care of as far as when you compare them to other fish in the hobby. You should feed them general flake food as a core of their diet and also give them some treats of foods with more meat-based substance to them like worms and such. I will also buy different types or different types of brands of flake food from my pet store just so they're not getting the same exact types every single day. Because nobody likes eating the same thing every single day and I don't care who you are.

I posted yesterday that I had lost my little crowntail.
I wasn't sure if I was ok to go out and buy a new fish yet, until I tried to sleep last night. I am so used to hearing the tank filter during the night that I had trouble sleeping in the silence. So today I went to my lfs just to look but came home with a new heater (I'm scared they'll get cold) and this new baby. https://youtu.be/40D1EdMuraI

He doesn't have a name yet and photos don't do him justice. He's a black, blue, green and red crowntail.
My boy I lost yesterday was blue and red so in tribute, I'm thinking of calling my new baby Johto (last boy was Sinnoh. I'm a huge PokéNerd :3)

Hey guys, Amazon has a deal where you can get kanaplex, focus, and metroplex all together for $20 (USD). I see a lot of people constantly asking what to keep in their fish first aid kit. I'm pretty sure this is a good start.
There's only 11 left! I have a question that the rest of you may consider silly, but it's an honest one because I've literally never seen them before. Are there female king bettas? I've been browsing the local pet shops pretty frequently for bettas because I literally can't help myself. I just discovered that there are several different kinds of bettas and that alone was news to me when I picked up the fish hobby again. I know they have to breed them somehow, but I don't know if they're bred from two different breeds and the larger males are called kings or if the females are just unpopular enough that the local stores around here just don't order them? Not looking to breed, just really curious.

She's normally turquoise green and changed to red tips, kind of purple and blue. She's my favorite CT female. I still haven't named her. Is she marble colored then? She went back to Turquoise after photo shoot. Could anyone tell me what the black stuff is on his fin? It looks to me like he is marbling because there is no "shredding" like fun rot. Sorry for blurry pic. Checked on my boy this evening and I thought he was dead, I was full on crying and I could see that one of his eyes had gone (he lives on his own) he looks really bloated too, but he is actually alive. Any idea what could be wrong with him?

What's your ammonia level?
Do you have anything sharp in the tank? "I know I'm doing, thank you VERY much"
"What's a cycling?"
"What do you put in the water? Conditioner like for your hair? Nonsense my goldfish water is straight from the tap and they're fine"

Perhaps you have spent your entire live petting fish. ( i have ), so do not expect an employee earning the minimum wages to have a master degree in fish care. ;) i am just saying...... No one in any pet store has ever given me helpful advice on fish. I hear a majority of the employees telling customers that bettas are fine in bowls without heaters or filters. Other stores simply have neglected bettas. I don't need someone who can't even keep a simple cup clean telling me how to care for a betta. It definitely depends on the store.

I can say from first hand experience, some customers just wanna hear what they want to hear and we submit to that. I have tried to convince customers NOT to keep them in the cup that they sell in, but they're like "but what if i wanted to keep them in the cup? I live in a small apartment and dont have the space." It depends on the person. If they;re too nice, they submit and tell them what they want to hear.
