I'm inconsolable right now I'm still in shock he got really sick in a matter of hours. Water perimeters on point idk what happened. My husband is wonderful he said I can get anyone I want. But I don't think I'm ready. I totally get that, that’s exactly what happened to mine actually... my water was perfect but somehow he got sick and I couldn’t get him better... he was about 3 though so it could have just been him getting a bit old. Take your time though, no hurry.

Sorry for your loss! :( It's nice to know that other people's bettas have passed in a short time frame. Mine is going through the same thing right now and I've only had him for a year. Water is good, etc, he just got sick, and is losing colour fast! Makes me feel like a bad fish owner when some live up to 5 years or longer! I'm hoping my Raja will make a comeback and get healthy again!

I'm sorry to hear it also. I have 11 boys he was my 12th. The 1st purchase tho I think that's what make it harder. I make sure everyones water is on point & for something like this to happen just makes me proud to know he lived a good life with me for a year. The grief was real when he passed my grandson was here & saw me fall to pieces. He's 4 1/2 but knows how the circle of life goes. He helped bury him in our flower bed.

To celebrate the Halloween season, I've been working on Halloween themed betta artwork. Halloween polymer clay betta figure designs. They're made out of sculpey translucent clay. Please visit the sale page for information, he is for sale. I am not allowed to discuss sales on this post, so please don't ask on this post. I was also wondering if we could get an artwork tag in the group?

White cloud minnow care. Thank you both so much for the kind words! Betta are my passion and I'd love to make it so everyone can keep a betta in any type of housing. I know not everyone can have the proper setups for a betta. Letting everyone know he's up in the for sale thread, and more information regarding my pieces can be found in that thread! Thank you all for the kind words!

How long can it take for betta fins to fully grow back after fin rot? I saw a post recently and the 10 day growth was so impressive compared to mine. Like 10 days was more than the 2 months I’ve been working on getting this guy healthy. Does it vary or should he be fully healed by now? Pic of first day and today. There are a ton of factors from the type of fin rot, the cause of it, the severity, water hardness, ph, what you feed them, nitrate levels, ammonia if present, temperature, flow, etc etc etc. Its so circumstantial. Just keep the water super clean, turn the heat up to 84 to 85, Indian almond leaves are amazing, and fresh high protein foods.

Fin rot I’m assuming was due to water quality in his cup, but I treated him for secondary infection anyways. His temp is about 80 but I can turn it up. No ammonia and I keep nitrates low, around 5-10 ppm. I always have ial available because I use it in my shrimp tanks.

Foods I would go with frozen blood worms, daphnia, brine shrimp and mysis shrimp aren't bad. I also feed live blackworms and flightless fruitflies. I have dry foods too stored around but for healing and conditioning always try for live if not at least frozen foods. I keep IAL in my tanks now just to overall destress them and prevent diseases. Do you have hard water?

I do have hard water, around 7.2- 7.4, without ial it is closer to 8. I currently feed hikari pellets and the omega one frozen blood worms. I want to try and find the fruit flys or black worms. Would petco or PetSmart have them? This is Quasi. I got him for free at my work because he came to us deformed. Not only does he have a hunch back appearance but his spine seems to have grown in an “S” shape. His swim bladder is finally better so I can now use a filter without his getting stuck to it. Hoping he lives a long happy life with me.

So I was at my local Petco the other day and saw this little guy. He wasn’t dead as he was swimming around his little cup the whole time, breathing normally, etc. I didn’t buy him obviously but what is wrong with him? He looks like he’d be blind. same my female has a little bit of it as well, it's in both eyes but just a little bit. They say it doesn't always completely cover, so there's hope. You can thin the scales with banana leaves but it literally thins the scales and I'd rather have her be a little special needs by being blinded than have her be a fragile little thing you know?
