ompak pabda (pabda catfish) is a native catfish species of india, myanmar and bangladesh. In india, opmak pabda is mostly found in west bengal, arunanchal pradesh, tripuara, meghalaya states. These fish species are found in lotic habbitats like rivers, medium and large streams. but they too found in some lentic habbitats like ponds and reservoir also. the maximum size of this fish is nearly 17 cm and 250g. Due to over exploitation, habbitat destruction as well as population fragmentation, this fish goes towards population declination for which it comes under near threatened category of IUCN red list classification.
