Red Terror cichlid fish care is medium level fish keeping. These fish can sometimes be pretty aggressive. This is the mixed large cichlid food I was talking about. Red Terror cichlids love that variety and it gives them the best health. Here is a link:

What is the best way to clean the like “death grossness” from a tank to put another fish in or does it really matter??? Just wondering I’m getting a new Betta from a friend this morning and wanted to know cause he will be going in the tank that my past fish were in. Thanks in advance!
HELP!!! What do I do if my partner plonked my fish into a brand new batch of water and they’re dying?!?! I don’t have the old water and really don’t want them to die.... some of them are already popping off. can you get to a lfs and buy some seachem prime, they do a very small bottle... add a little to the litreage and aerate the water hard and you may keep some. its tap water i presume. for future the best trick is to prepare your water at least 24hours before add 'Prime" and aerate it until you are ready to use it.
Sounds like you need a new partner lmao! If he literally just removed from one tank and dropped them into another with no acclimation period, the temp and water parameters could have been different and he just shocked the crap out of your fish... add some stress coat and keep the tank dark, like blacked out dark for a day and leave the lights off but unwrap the tank for another day and they should get over the stress of the move, unfortunately the damage has already been done and you're on a recovery mission now! I wish you the best of luck!
It has nothing to do with the water unless it has chlorine and hasn’t been dechlorinated. Once that’s done it’s the filter that needs to be up to speed producing bacteria. Water from an LFS won’t help anymore than some dechlorinator.
Hope this video helps some of you. So like many of you I do my water changes on Sunday and it can be a pain in the butt I have tried many different way's of doing it with the worst being carrying heavy buckets I have tried using a Python but my sink fitting didn't work so I came up with this now I know many people do it this way but I haven't seen any videos so I thought I would make one to share so I hope this helps

Red terror cichlid Care. Needing some serious help, left foot vacation and came back to a dead guppy and a filthy tank with the internal filter completely submerged that my housesitter apparently didn't take care of. I have no idea hope long the guppy was dead, this reading is AFTER I changed the water 50% last night :( I'll be starting another water change immediately but what does this reading mean?
For a little background I posted a while back about how my tank was new, had started with safe start and I had an ammonia problem contributed to overfeeding. Everyone was super helpful and in light of this problem I left clear instructions for my housesitter on doing small water changes until I got home. I came back, saw the dead fish, panicked and did a 50% water change and added a capful of stability without checking parameters. Currently the tank is a slightly overstocked 10g (followed bad advice and am rehoming some tomorrow) but I'm working on getting my 20g ready for water.
I know it was just a guppy but coming home to a dead fish was heartbreaking. Please, other than an immediate water change how can I help my fish?? Vacuum everything off of the bottom any food residue left behind from your house sitter will contribute to your readings. Add carbon to your filter if it doesnt have any and put some pothos ivy into the tank.
If the tank is new (3-6 weeks old) the dead fish may have crashed your cycle. I would recommend a deep thorough clean of the filter and all, then get some starter bacteria and start over. Might be a little stressful on your fish but not as stressful as those nitrite and nitrate levels. Adding bacterial starter is a good idea if there was a problem with your filter. I’m not sure I understand what you mean by it was submerged? If you add chemicals to neutralize ammonia and nitrates realize that the tank will continue to read as if ammonia or nitrate are present until the material breaks down or is removed by water changes.
Damn it... I'll do what I have to for my fish but man it sucks. I did use safe start the first time. At this point I'm going to look into just buying an already cycled sponge filter off of someone local and trying that.
