The super-intensive breeding fish farm is situated at 10 km from Timisoara, in Giarmata commune. It was developed on an area of 16.656 m2 mainly for sturgeon breading. The technical equipment can also provide conditions for various other species.
The current activity is Freshwater Aquaculture – CAEN code 0322;
Three projects have been developed for the construction of the farm during 2007-2014. All of these are EU projects so it was necessary to respect al European reglemmentations and standards.
The Projects:
1. Breeding fishes – SAPARD during 2007-2009
2. Fish farm Intensive growing – POP AXA 2, measure 2.1 during 2010-2013
3. Fish processing facility – POP AXA 2, measure 2.6 during 2010-2014.
The farm provides the following facilities:
- administrative building with office places, locker rooms, canteen and accommodation rooms.
- 4 deep wells in order to supply water
- 5 halls with a total area of 3370 m², within which are mounted 108 tanks of fibreglass reinforced polyester with a total volume of 1253 m² water;
o hall 1 for incubation and artificial reproduction, pre-development and breeding of spawn (already populated with trout);
o halls 2,3 and 4 contain tanks for the breeding of fish consumption (hall 2 populated with sturgeon);
o hall 5 contains tanks for the breeding of remounts and reproducers;
o together there are 9 different recirculating systems, everyone responding to the different needs in the growing process;
- three outdoor tanks for the breeding of reproducers with a volume of 2700 m² water, each with filtering installation;
- technological facility with technological installations for aerated water, filtered water, sterilized water and maintain constant water temperature in the recirculating system;
- industrial hall area of 1599 m² for processing fresh and frozen fish, including the preparation and the packaging for delivery of the sturgeon spawn, all sorts of marinated and smoked fish;
- depositing hall.
The main objectives are:
- Growing of different fish species:
- Sturgeon: Sterlet Sturgeon (Acipenser ruthenus)
Beluga Sturgeon (Huso huso)
Russian Sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedti)
Starry sturgeon (Acipenser stellatus)
- Silurid – catfish, African sharptooth catfish
- Salmonidae: Trout - in our farm we grow a Hybrid Trout. It is an interbreeding between two species: Brook Trout (Salvelinus Fontinalis) and Arctic Char (Salvelinus alpinus)
- Cyprinidae – various species of carp
- Getting a fish production over 30-40 kg/ m³ water, respectively 140 t/year of fish
- Caviar production up to 4tons/year
- Improving the competitiveness of the obtained production
- Increase the effectiveness by using the modern technology
- Improving the quality of fish and spawn
- Monitoring the quality of the food products with the requirements of the food security
- Improving and controlling the sanitary condition
- Facilitating some non-polluting production technologies
- Providing new jobs
- Contribution to national and international repopulation programs in Danube and other rivers
- Processing capacity – up to 1.771.474kg/year (fresh and refrigerated, semi-preserved and frozen products)
