because this type of fish are a cross breed of a goldfish and a cichled, they are unable to reproduce(Infertile Male). It is only possible to breed these fish if the original breeder of your fish has given them hormones, witch is usually unlikely. But even if you are given two/one fertile fish(They can switch gender) it is very difficult to breed them. Even under prime water conditions it is difficult. One reason the eggs usually die off from mold is because of their inability to pick and move eggs with their large open Y shaped mouth. The only chance you would have at successfully breeding these fish is breeding them in a tank with no other fish, prime water conditions, and medicated water to stop mold growth.
