To prove the Guppy Breeding Cage works, at the end of the video (on the same day) you see the amount of fry that were saved from being eaten by the adults. I know this goes against natural selection, but it really helps to help my students to focus more on class than if the new baby fish are being eaten or not.
This guppy breeder trap was made out of 1 1/2 sheets of #7 plastic mesh, and approximately 2 feet of acrylic yarn (with yarn needles that will fit through the #7 holes), and a circular plastic mesh for the bottom.
Currently the fry trap is housing 3 female guppies, and 1 tequila sunrise male, but I plan to make more breeder traps, and keep no more than one gravid female in each.
