Fish Farming

The 22 billion shilling government economic stimulus program was largely aimed at boosting the country's economy through identifying key sectors that are under-performing with a view to reviving them. Fisheries is just one of them. Under the programme, the government was to spend 1.12 billion shillings to construct fish ponds in over 140 constituencies. And as Sheila Sendeyo reports, these efforts to seal the yawning gap in fish production may just bear fruit as fish farming is no longer a preserve of lake side communities and is actually catching on with gusto in other areas as well.
