Both Dacron and Teflon have been used to repair cartilage defects in rabbits. Early studies showed promise... the aim being, of course, to eventually develop an effective treatment for osteoarthritis using stem cells. There were pitfalls in using this as a matrix for stem cell repair of cartilage. Unfortunately, this material appears to be too rigid to be applicable to humans. It's still pretty good for frying eggs.
