The Gloucestershire Old Spots were frequently kept in orchards and were nicknamed *The Orchard Pig* - Legend says that the black spots are bruises from falling apples!
They grazed in the apple orchards, clearing up the windfalls as well.
These free-range Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs have an enormous area where they can exercise in the fresh air and natural light, roaming freely and able to take shade among trees.
The vast open areas have natural rocks and stumps, grassy areas and of course the muddy areas where they love to use their snout to *root* in the cool dirt. Treats or food can easily be spread over and into the mud which helps provide some fun when the pigs are rooting and foraging. In the deeper mud pits, they can wallow to cool down.
They have the best possible life and welfare standards.
