Autophagy Fasting: Can Exercise Induce AUTOPHAGY?
Autophagy is a process that occurs in the body, and the activity is greatly elevated during periods of starvation. This is why one would often find publications suggesting the use of a method like intermittent fasting to assist in inducing autophagy and improving the effectiveness of this particular process. Even though a fasted state is often the preferred method for activating autophagy in the human body, many breakthroughs have already been made in terms of additional methods that may also be useful.
Apart from the inclusion of certain foods in a person’s diet, scientists have also found that...
Autophagy is primarily activated when the body enters a state of starvation. This is the primary reason why one of the most commonly recommended ways to induce this activity in the body is through intermittent fasting – a technique that requires cessation from food intake for the majority of the day, causing the body to enter starvation mode and autophagy to be activated.
In a recent study, scientists noted that exercise might also be a useful option for increasing autophagy activity in the body. At the moment, studies have been primarily conducted on laboratory mice, but the study did suggest that similar effects may be observed when the same techniques are used in human subjects. Furthermore, the study also concluded that autophagy might be the reason behind the fact that exercise is associated with...

A study led by scientists at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark also analyzed the effect of exercise on autophagy. Biopsy samples showed that sprinting caused an increase in markers associated with...
