Medicine and Horses Pilot demonstrates 'Con Su Permiso' exercise with role play medical students. Metaphorically utilizing horses as new patients, the students enter the stall (exam room) and say 'now' when they believe they first establish initial rapport with their 'patient'. The second 'student' clearly experienced difficulty establishing initial rapport as demonstrated by the pacing of her 'patient'.Later, off video, the student expressed her 'emotional baggage' she brought to this class. Her emotional state and negative energy clearly affected her ability to establish an initial relationship right away with her 'patient'. Ultimately, she used the relaxation exercise, taught prior to this activity to center herself. Upon a reduction of negativity, the horse calmed and greeted her.
