I call this the Half-Circle. This exercise when done correctly gives you forward movement, lateral flexion, yielding the shoulders, leg yield, disengagement, backup, and your horse's attention.
I use this exercise when loading my horse, preparing my horse for challenges before I ask him to face these challenges with me in the saddle.
Watch this video. It will relieve a lot of stress for you and your horse.
