Unmounted exercises with horses // Work in hand
Working with your horse in hand is a great way to spend time with your horse on days when you aren't able to ride due to bad weather or on days when you just don't feel like riding. To work with your horse in hand, I like to use a rope halter and a long whip. Spend some time moving your horse's shoulders and hind end around. Make sure you do the same exercises on both sides. Keep it fun and reward your horse's effort.
Working in hand also gives you another way to bond with your horse and continue developing your relationship.
