Canter with Beau Adding the Feel of the Leg Yield for Control of the Haunches #2

Dislike 0 Published on 11 Feb 2013

This is Susan Faulkner Evans on Beau. Susan is focused on feeling where Beau's back end is at the canter on a straight line and on circles through the feel of a leg yield. This is a very difficult exercise. They are moving up to 1st Level Dressage after a very successful year last year at Training level. Now, they need to be able to do a leg yield. Beau is not thrilled with the leg yield as he has to become aware of his hind legs in a new way. As a result, all of our movements will now have a feel of the leg yield to make sure that both Susan and Beau have a good feeling of what it is to be balanced laterally on the outside rein and leg. As this exercise continues you will see Beaus shoulders lift as he becomes more active with his hind legs at the walk.
