On a circle, place two poles in line with each other and raise the ends in the centre of the circle using blocks or buckets.

Don't raise the too high and remember, the closer together the poles, the more difficult the exercise, especially for larger horses. - it makes a smaller circle and so a tighter turn! Your horse has to step over the pole on one side of the circle, then walk around and step over the other. Start at the edges where the step will be lower and easier, and gradually move closer to the centre.

Go through this exercise five or six times on each rein. In each exercise, look for your horse to be walking in a steady rhythm and be relaxed, with his head low and neck long and low.
