Yesterday, late morning, Amelia delivered the first kids of the season at Sunflower Farm!! We expect about 50 more in the coming weeks and were so excited for the first babies to arrive! Joni, Josephine, and Larry are beautiful and healthy! I could hardly sleep last night knowing those fluff balls were in the barn and kept peeking at them on the live cam beside my bed to make sure they were ok! This morning, Ed our barn cat showed me the way to the pile of new sleeping babies and Amelia decided it was a good time to take them for their first walk around the barn! Those first hops were adorable and now the kids are all tired out and back again napping in their pile! Goat kids are amazing! In these hard times, their absolute joy at being alive is contagious. My plan is to share them all with you as much as possible so that you can enjoy the break too so stay tuned for lots of baby videos in the coming weeks.
This year we are naming the kids based on a travel theme! Since we are all stuck at home we thought it might be a fun reminder of all that is connecting us around the world! Lots of cool city names planned. Feel free to share more int he comments inspired by your favorite places. But before we begin themed names...a number of people purchased naming rights for someone they love this winter and we are working through those first!
