My Akita's Morning Exercise

Dislike 0 Published on 9 Aug 2010

Each morning, my American akita and I go running in a wide patch of grass behind the apartment complex I live in. It's become a morning ritual and a great way to get ourselves awake for the day. It also makes him good, hungry, and tired out for the rest of the morning.

A bit of advice to owners with large breed dogs, never feed them and then run with them. Always feed them after they get exercise. To be safe though, give them 30 minutes to an hour to wait to eat before or after exercising. You need to do this in order to prevent bloat, a common fatal threat to most large-breed dogs.

The akita shown here is about 9 to 10 months old and very well trained, socialized with humans and other animals, and loved.
