Mental stimulation for dogs: 'chase!' game for blind dogs

Dislike 0 Published on 28 Feb 2016

Tip for mentally stimulated old dogs with sight problems. Bounce the treat audibly, close to the dog's paw, sending it shooting off in one direction or the other. From the sound, the dog gets a chance to pounce on the treat and do a little run.

This is a fantastic exercise for dogs who have a tendency for overweight and underexercise. It's no marathon, but it beats the usual 'fast food' way of feeding dogs (tossing kibble in a dish).

Note that I tell my dog when the last one is coming 'last one' and when it's over 'finished'. This stops the dog from constantly bugging you during walks.
