Cat Stretch Daily Exercise for Back Relief to Dance Pain Away

The cat stretch daily exercises give us back relief, aids us to get over muscle back spasms, keeps muscles limber, and helps us feel better overall in a natural, healthy way...

The 7 simple somatics exercise movements collectively called the cat stretch can be used as a set up to improve daily workout exercises, improve mobility and restore natural flexibility for the entire body. All the major muscles and joints of the body are given attention.

For a more detailed look at what the daily exercises are good for: http://somaticsexercises.com/daily-maintenance-program-the-cat-stretch/

Instead of back stretches to give us better range of motion and more comfort, the cat stretch forms a series of back exercises done at home, which prepares our muscles for the entire day.

In the series of movements, we can not only relieve the back, we can free the neck, shoulders, hips, knees, and legs from the binds or stiffness we might find ourselves locked in.

Did you know that healthy cats never stretch? Watch the 7 or so movements they do each morning. They actually contract their muscles along a series or chain of muscles. Watch this video to learn what the strange sounding word they do is called. You can try the cat moves in the video for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgzWHLJDnqA&list=UU1zyMpVarOtM040yNtD0z3g&index=13

In yoga, the cat stretch is mostly done on the hands and knees. In somatics, we do a series of lazy yet mindful movements done with awareness where the first very first one is a modified version of the yoga cat stretch. We do this on our back to ready the spine and wakeup the brain's cerebrospinal fluid and nervous system.

Go to http://gravitywerks.com where you'll get to enjoy more somatics exercises and learn the key somatics exercise movement which is a bridge to entire system of this mind body approach.

The cat stretch dance you saw is the fast version where normally we s-l-o-w things down quite a bit and do the simple 7 movements with ease. Now we're ready to purr and go. Meow!

To have the agility, balance and grace of a cat is easy when we remind ourself of our natural ability to self-correct and regain the function of our muscles using our brain's motor cortex. This lets us be the fluid movers we used to be as children. Those feelings are memories... and movement is a memory we can voluntarily improve at any age.

If you like the video, please give it a thumbs up and tell your friends about it.

The cat stretch series of 7 exercises can be done in as little as a few minutes or you can languorously take your time. Once you get the hang of, why not do the cat stretch dance too.

Ed Barrera is a nationally certified Hanna Somatic Educator with 14 years experience teaching people how to overcome physical pain, reduce muscular stress and tension and recover quickly from injury using safe, simple somatics exercises where we move gently and easily to feel better now... so we can get back to doing the things we want again with our body.

Ed lived with fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition in his 20's & 30's. Now 17 pain free years later, he believes we oughta be able to touch our toes at 50+... of course that may not be possible if you've got the short-arm syndrome ; ).

Somatics exercises are wonderful ways to increase mobility, restore natural flexibility and simply make us feel better so pain, stiffness, and discomfort no longer rules our day or activities.
