The Together Housing Group and a celebrity chef have teamed up to promote healthy eating for people on a budget. The Group, which includes Twin Valley Homes, Housing Pendle, Green Vale Homes and Newground, has called on the culinary expertise of Michelin Star chef Nigel Haworth to create and film some delicious and nutritious recipes for under £10, which will be placed on YouTube. Using the kitchen at the showhouse on the new £3million Orchard Grove development in Darwen, Nigel shopped locally for his ingredients, at Darwen Market, before whipping up a number of budget-busting dishes. Nick Riley, director at Newground, the newest member of the Together Housing Group, said: "We've worked with Nigel on a number of projects as we both are passionate about promoting healthy living. "Certain fast food outlets claim they can feed a family of four for under a tenner, and we wanted to prove we could do the same but these meals would be far better for you. "People are our business and we strive to help our communities, and the people who live within them, to be the best they can be." Nigel, who runs Northcote Manor and a number of the finest gastro pubs in the region, added: "We set out to prove that it's very simple to eat healthily on a budget, and I think we've done that. "These films show that with ingredients you can buy in your local market can be bought cheaply and made into healthy meals quickly -- and you don't need to be a master chef to make them! "We're hoping to inspire people to get into their markets and kitchens for the good of the borough."
