The nasty cold weather has returned and it's a damp cold which makes it worse, the ducks are actually staying inside with this damp cold weather that we are having now.

During the egg recon it has become obvious that the Pekin ducks are not to be trusted with the eggs in the barn, today I actually caught one of them running around and other Pekin ducks chasing her while she was downing the remains of an egg she had broken.

Some of the Pekin ducks are sitting on eggs but I think this is a temporary thing; they are not known to be good brooders.

Also while doing the egg recon the white chicken was quite aggressive concerning a broken double yoke duck egg, even when I pushed her back she tried to get at the egg again that she had broken.

Starting to get more eggs now that the Pekin duck moult has come to an end, but still no sign of Rouen eggs the Rouen ducks haven't moulted yet this winter so it should start any day.

Out of all the ducks the Muscovy drakes seem to be the smartest and stay inside the shed during the cold days, they aren't like the Pekin & Rouen drakes that stand outside along the grid and torment themselves looking at the females.

I've notice Moe the Muscovy drake is staying away from the other Muscovy drakes since he was brought back from his mating session with Ms. Icecovy the female Muscovy duck, things really haven't returned to normal there.

Back in the hospital slash nursery Ms. Icecovy the female Muscovy duck is making a huge nest and I mean huge she is building a monster size nest, the nesting box slash recycle container I configured for her to brood her eggs in is way too small.

Today when I cleaned out the hospital slash nursery Ms. Icecovy didn't get off her nest once she looked at me once and hissed but that is all the response I got from her. It looks like she is using her feet to move the duck eggs around not her bill like I thought she would do.

There is a Rouen drake that is picking on some of the much bigger Pekin drakes, I don't know if it's his way of making up for having the much larger Muscovy drakes mating with him and he's got issues he trying to work out by being aggressive with the Pekin drakes.

I had to go to town to get a tarp to cover the straw that I removed from the back of the truck today and got back late from town, so I had to turn on the Olympic outdoor lights so I could do the water change for the ducks, while the lights were on the ducks seized the opportunity to have some fun outside when normally they would be inside as it would be dark.

Of course while the tub was filling the Rouen females were waiting on the edge for it to fill up, the Rouen female ducks are always the first to get into the tub when the water is changed.
