The ducks are crazy loud today answering me, they must miss me today. It's a beautiful day woke up and it was -14°C but then it warmed up really fast in less than 2 hours the temperature rose to 0°C.

The temperature came up so quick that during egg recon the barn was actually colder inside than it was outside. Today there was a great surprise in the barn during egg recon the Rouen females have started to lay eggs, this is great news. But it's strange that this winter we haven't seen any Rouen feathers, makes no sense they haven't moulted this winter at all compared the rest of the ducks.

Egg recon is seriously starting to turn back on again, getting more and more eggs everyday. The ducks cleaned out the feeder last night over 50 lbs of feed just in the barn alone. I really thought with the feeder empty the ducks were going to give me a rush to the feeder because they can see me get the feed out of the truck, so I turned on the Pivothead and of course they didn't give me a rush. The only thing I can think of is they just emptied the feeder and were full.

China emailed me today and the incubator is at the port in the shipping container and the ship is going to leave China on March 29th, so it should be here around the 28th of April just in time.

I'm thinking of introducing the drakes back to the females in 2 weeks, let them breed for a week and then start collecting the eggs for the incubator. From what I've read if I store the eggs between 50°F -- 60°F they are good up to 7 days for 95% fertility and after that they start to drop off, so I could end up having a couple hundred eggs for the first batch in the incubator.

The sex drive of the female ducks is crazy; they are doing each other non stop in the bath tub now. They seriously need the drakes put back in with them.

At the end of the day doing the duck chores I couldn't resist on my way out of the duck pen to play with the ducks and the garden hose, they love the garden hose so much. Gave Ms. Gimp a shower her head was seriously muddy; she cleaned up real good and looked really pretty afterwards.
