Woke up this morning and mother nature was playing a nasty joke on us here -22°C, it's suppose to be spring.
It wasn't until about 10 am that the ducks finally came outside and ventured around the duck pen. They are basically laying low from the wind and soaking up the warm sunshine the spring has to offer.
It is looking like March is coming in like a lion and leaving like a lame, the end of the week is suppose to be much warmer.
It was so funny today the ducks were trying to suck me into letting them out of the pen again with this warmer weather, until I get the straw pile wrapped up so they can't get at it they aren't getting out.
The incubator leaves China on March 29th so we should have it here around the 28th of April the latest, I'm getting so excited.
Every time I change the water in the bathtub the ducks really get excited, it's so rewarding doing things for the ducks, they really let you know when you've done something they like. The Rouen females are the funniest they don't hesitate getting into the water, and they swing both ways.
Cleaned out Ms. Icecovy the Muscovy frostbite female duck's hospital today, she is doing great but she has lost some of the webbing in her feet and her feathers are getting really rough, she is going into full blown moult now.
Doing the end of day chores the ducks were actually waiting for me to get the garden hose out to spray them and change the water in the bathtub.
Discovered at the end of the day the electric fence had a short, turns out it got warm enough today that water accumulated around the bottom wire and caused a dead short. After a bit of ice chipping I got the water away from the wire and the dead short stopped.
The Ms. Gimp 911 Emergency Rescue video from February has now made her an internet star, someone posted the video on reddit, see below.
