Ms. Icecovy didn't touch the fodder I put in her hospital stall at all, when I cleaned it out the next day it was untouched she wasn't interested in it at all. She is laying eggs pretty regular now 6 out of 7 days she is laying eggs now again.
I've got to get the drake shack cleaned out today it's been awhile since I cleaned it out almost a month and it's time I'm starting to smell ammonia when the sun hits the shed and it warms up inside, so today is Christmas day for the drakes when they get their new straw.
Another reason I've got to clean it out today is this will be more than likely be the last day I'll have ice to slide the feces sleigh around the yard to get to the compost pile.
We're suppose to get 25mm (1 inch) of rain tonight so the ducks are going to have a blast, they love the rain it's so funny when it rains this hard they don't take cover like other animals they go out into the storm and play in it like I use to do when I was a kid.
The wind is really picking up today with this big storm blowing in from the south and the ducks aren't liking this too much as we already known ducks hate the wind big time.
Today's egg recon was great for duck eggs 26 in total in the barn but only 1 chicken egg, the Pekin female ducks are dropping eggs all over the pen though.
The Muscovy females are really eying up the 2nd level nesting boxes, if I hadn't clipped their wings this winter with the owl problem we had they would be in them laying eggs. Soon they will get new feathers and will be able to fly again.
When I was cleaning out the drake shed the female ducks were trying to sneak out the gate of the pen, they really really wanted out bad. I had to be very careful to make sure I closed the gate behind me they rushed me a couple times trying to get out.
Later on in the afternoon the rain finally arrived and the temperature dropped to +2°C, it became really miserable cold and damp but that didn't bother the ducks at all they were out playing in it and having a great time.
Later that night I got the camera out and shot some footage of the ducks playing under the pen light in the rain, they played basically all night.
