The ambient temperature wasn't bad only -8°C but the windchill was nasty, the ducks didn't like it at all they basically were staying in the barn on this nasty day.
It looks like a duck jumped the gate in the barn and made a small nest and laid an egg it had to be a Muscovy.
I was really surprised to see a Pekin female brooding in the corner on an egg, I'm hoping to get started on the nesting boxes any day once I get the current project taking up my garage floor done.
Ducks were very interested in what I was doing in the barn and were coming in to check me out when I was doing the egg run today.
The Muscovy drakes are seriously courting the female Pekin & Rouens.
Muscovy females are taking advantage of their flying abilities and coming and going out of the pen, and they always go back into the pen on their own.
Turns out the ducks hate my custom duck mixture and won't eat the wheat in the mixture, try to give them something new to eat and they turn their noses up to it.
Today discovered more Made In China junk failures, the heated pails both died today, that is 3 for 3 now in failures, I came up with a new idea on how to have water for them, which I don't know why I didn't do this before.
Went to the neighbours and got a bail of hay for the ducks, I know they love to eat grass and weeds in the summer so I thought I'd try some hay, my neighbour has got lots of it, and it turns out they love it.
Muscovy frostbite update the female from the first night isn't doing too well but the 2nd one is doing great. The first one is not drinking and eating much while the 2nd one is eating and drinking a ton. ----------------------------------------------
