Ducks aren’t getting out of the pen today after the mess they made yesterday drilling in the mud, I’m going to wait till more of the property is exposed so they can roam around and destroy other parts of the property instead of right in front of the pen.
5;30am the ducks were up and outside making lots of noise in the dark which is really surprising, considering in duck time it’s really 4;30 am.
Egg recon is starting to get exciting today we got 33 eggs and later in the day we got 2 more so 35 eggs today the best day yet.
There is a partial short in the electric fence because of the this meltdown, I’ve got to chisel some ice away from the other end of the fence, it’s only got about 5,000 volts instead of the 9,900 it should have, it’s not showing a complete dead short yet but if I don’t get the ice away we will when it becomes water.
The poop puddle in front of the barn I’ve got to deal with it, the ducks are bringing all the wet poop into the barn and it’s making the barn a nasty mess, and tonight it’s suppose to be -10°C so I’ve got to get the barn dried out for the ducks.
First I’ve got to shovel the rest of the snow off my roof on the back of the house, the ice is causing water to come under the sheet metal and is leaking in the barn shed of the house.
Finally today we caught Moe the Muscovy drake in action, it looks like he waits for the females to come into the barn to eat and then he pounces on them.
I chopped ice out in the pen for the whole afternoon to get a drain so the poop puddle in the front of the barn drained away, I paid today for all the duck showers I gave the ducks this winter.
Picked up Goose Lee today poor goose gets so stressed when you handle him, he was actually vibrating.
