Dog’s ears require regular cleaning. Present with us here today is one of the groomer from Peek a Pet pet shop who will be showing us on how to clean a dog’s ears.

Here are the things you need:

- Ear Powder
- Ear Cleanser
- A Hemostat
- Some Cotton Wool

You may also use suitable pet cotton buds, which are available at your local pet shops.

Steps of cleaning your dog’s ears;

- Ensure your dog is relaxed before cleaning, as this will make the job easier.
- Once seated, hold the ear firmly with one hand till the ears meets the head.
- Plucking its fur around the ear canal reduces discomfortness. Sprinkle some ear powder and pluck it with a suitable hemostat.
- Your dog will feel sensitive and vigorously shake its head.
- Remain your dog at the same position. Now, fairly twist some cotton wool on the hemostat and pour some ear cleanser on it till its fully moist.
- Clean your dog’s ears with the wooled hemostat gently around and inside the ear canal. Beware that you don’t clean too deep in side.
- Cleanse the outer area of the year canal as well with a new set if moist cotton wool.

Lack of dog’s ear hygiene may lead to ear mites or infection. Clean it at least once a week. If you notice a bad stench and dark looking wax, consult your regular pet shop or a veterinarian.
