The Grooming Table: PreBath Brush Out

In this very first episode of our new series, The Grooming Table, we thought it would be fitting to start with the Prep. By clearing out the pores of the dead undercoat and cellular debris, we are making room for the water and products to get into those pores and condition the skin properly. It would be like scrubbing dirty dishes before running them in the dishwasher. You get much better results.
The Prep is so important no matter what art form you're dealing with. In the culinary world, it's called the "Mise en Place" (I actually misspelled it in the video as Mise en Plate!). The term Mise en Place is a French phrase that refers to the preparation and organization that takes place before a meal is ready to be served.
If you want to get a soft, silky finish that lasts more than a few days before your dog starts to smell again, than you must follow the process. Skipping the brush out and moving straight to the tub to lather up your dog in shampoo is like painting over a dirty wall without prepping it first. It may cover up the problem for a little while, but it's only a matter of time before you end up with an even bigger problem than you had before you painted the dirty wall. It's the same thing with washing your dog. You may cover up the nasty odor and grime for a few days, but about 3 days after the bath it will seem like the smell is back and worse than before.
