Grooming Jake

Ever wonder exactly what happens when your dog gets groomed by Precious Pooches? Now you know! Jake was quite dirty (he likes to roll in the dirt!), so he went straight into the bathtub. First, he got his blueberry oatmeal facial (tearless), to get his face nice and clean. Next, I added B3 Protein shampoo to the shampoo system, to give Jake his first bath. After scrubbing him, I use the blow dryer to blow the shampoo off of him. He gets a total of two shampoos, and rinsed. His teeth were brushed and ears were plucked and cleaned in the tub as well. Every dog gets a conditioning treatment, but that varies by dog. With Jake, I chose to use a spray on, leave in conditioner that works best for his coat. I use a moisture absorbing towel to get most of the water off of him first. After applying his conditioner, it's time to blow dry! This process can take quite a while, depending on the length and thickness of the coat. Once he is mostly dry, I move him to the table to finish drying him. Then, his nails are trimmed and dremmeled (filed down to dull the edges). He did have some knots in his ears and tail, so I get those out next. After that, he is brushed well, to prepare for his haircut. His sanitary trim is first, then the bottoms of his feet. His body is kept short (to help with the dirt rolling!). His head is finished last. I hope this gives you some idea of our grooming process! Feel free to ask any questions :)
