How To Exercise A Dog

Dislike 0 Published on 13 Jul 2018

These are just a few ways I exercise my dog that I enjoy as well as she enjoys.
Most of them also serve as a dual purpose whether it’s exercising and training or exercising and cleaning teeth etc.

A few very important notes before I get started.

Due to my lack of knowledge and bad feeding habits, I’m the reason that Lilly became a little over weight last year.
She is a mixed breed and is stocky by nature and not the skinny chihuahua type body we normally see but she definitely gained a little bit of weight last year.
Which led me to find exercises and things we could do to help her and a better diet.

I started exercising her in December when I started her raw diet so all these pictures are from December 2017 to March 2018.

In three short months she started looking really good at 8 and a half years old.

You don’t need to feed raw to have your dog looking good.
You can feed kibble as well.

Due to life changes and my health, I had stopped exercising Lilly since around April 2018 and she gained back some weight which you will see in these videos taken over the past three days.

What’s important is I’ve realized my mistakes and I’m working on it.

I would never ask Lilly to do anything she doesn’t want to do.
Every day at 5pm she sits by the door wanting to go on a walk. If the weather is bad than we play with toys.
At 9pm she sits by the stairs wanting to exercise on them.

I chose these exercises because they are all dual purpose and they are my favorites.
There are other ways you can exercise your dog.
You can run or jog or get a carpet mill or treadmill or agility or all kinds of other ways to exercise your dogs.

Find what your dog likes and have fun.

I like to wait 30min before or 30min after feeding before I exercise her.

I used to exercise her five days a week even though she wanted to exercise seven days but my schedule wouldn’t allow it.

Now I am able to exercise her seven days a week so if she wants to exercise every day than we will do so.
Since she is nine years old now I will only exercise her when she wants to (it’s Lilly lol she will want to)

I hope this helps!
