Atorney Tom Olsen: Let’s go to Alex in Orlando. Alex you’re on News 96.5. Go ahead.

Alex: Hello. Good morning. I have a rather unusual question.

Attorney Tom Olsen: All right.

Alex: My wife and I were driving through a joining development and we saw a stray dog. We stopped and pick it up, brought her home. It had no tags on. It had a chip, but the chip was not registered. We posted it on the Orlando Humane Society. We posted on two other sites. We have had no calls if anybody claiming it.

Attorney Tom Olsen: Got you.

Alex: Now we want to keep the dog. At one point does it legally become ours that the owner cannot come and take it back?

Attorney Tom Olsen: Alex, I’m going to guess and say the answer is never, so that you might have that dog for a year. And if somebody came forward and say, “Alex, that’s my dog,” and they could prove it one way or another. Alex, the dog would still belong to them in my humble opinion. Alex, first I want to say, thank you for taking care of that dog, we appreciate it. I’d like to think that, hey, if you haven’t found the owner by now, you never will find the owner. And you guys will have a good time enjoying the company of your dog. Good luck to you. I hope it works out best for you.
