How to take care of your dog this summer?

For a dog, summer is possibly the most exciting time of the year, with the warmer weather encouraging their owners to take them on more walks, more trips to parks and forests, and to rivers, lakes and the seaside where they're given free rein to swim and frolic in the water.
But while it's a great time for a dog, summer can also throw up issues for pet owners. Stifling temperatures and the spread of canine diseases see fleas become more of a problem in summer than any other time of year, and many dog owners could unknowingly be putting their dogs at risk by not following a number of basic summer pet care guidelines.
Elanco Companion Animal Health has revealed nearly half of dog owners are unaware that if a dog is bathed or swims it may lose protection from spot-on flea treatments. Luckily, a fast acting, chewable, beef-flavoured tablet is available from vets that kills fleas and prevents flea infestations on dogs for a full month.
