Help Rolly, the paralyzed dog

Dislike 0 Published on 1 Aug 2014

This is the story of Rolly (Picăţel in Romanian), the stray on wheels.
It started three years ago. He lived just outside my house. Rolly was a very happy puppy, always ready to play. One day I came home and found him crawled up next to a fence. It was strange he didn’t come to greet me, so I went closer and saw he couldn’t get up. He had been hit by a car and left there.
I went to the doctor. They operated his spine, but told us he will never walk again and suggested we euthanize him. He was only a few months old and so full of life, we couldn’t do that. So we took him in, hoping to find a solution.
We made a stroller for him, that he accepted very easily. We take him for walks around the neighborhood, but the rest of the time he lives in our bathroom. We have four other dogs who don’t accept him unless we are present, plus he suffers from incontinence, making it difficult for us to keep him in the house.
Three years have passed since Rolly is paralyzed, but he doesn’t seem to mind. He is still as joyful and ready to play as he was when he was a puppy.
But we know he deserves better. We cannot take proper care of him (he needs medical care that we cannot provide), and all that time spent alone in the bathroom is starting to take it’s toll on him. He should have space he can roll around on every day and access to medication.
We are asking if you can provide a contact at a dog-shelter or foster family who can accept to take care of him.
Please message me if you know such an organization/person or feel free to share his story to any dog-lover you might know. Any share could be Rolly’s chance at a better life! Thank you!
