You see, dominant dogs are those that, when interacting with other individuals, tend to show more marked leadership behaviour and therefore expect submission from the other dogs. However, it is imperative to clarify that the most dominant dog breeds are not the most aggressive.
So if you are thinking of adopting one of them? It would help if you kept in mind that markedly more dominant dogs are recommended for experienced and responsible dog owners who understand and respect the dog's natural inclinations.
That’s why in this video, we are going to show you 10 of the most dominant breeds of dogs in the world. So, stay tuned as we take you through these dog species that will amaze you with their dominating traits. Let’s begin.
Number 10: Fox Terrier
The fox terrier is an exceptional dog with a friendly and outgoing character. They are one of the most complicated dog breeds for a novice owner because they are very time-consuming during training. So a fox terrier is better for very active people who like to do outdoor activities and have experience in handling dogs.
Although they are a more independent dog than others, they also demand a lot of company. These dogs can be very persistent when they want something. Leaving a fox terrier alone for a long time means having problems. When they are bored, this terrier tends to bark and dig in the garden, as well as nibble on everything they find.
This breed's hunting past has left it with a very marked heritage. The prey impulse of these fox terriers is very intense, and therefore they tend to hunt any small animal. A wire-haired fox terrier is not the ideal choice if you have other pets. It would be best if you never forgot that they were initially burrowing hunting dogs.
Despite the temperament of these dogs, they also have good sides. Being very active dogs, they are also very playful. So, they are excellent companions for young and vibrant people.
They can also be ideal pets for somewhat older children, capable of treating the dog with respect. They are not perfect pets for young children because these dogs tend to bite easily when they are disturbed or feel threatened.
Number 9: The Dogo Argentino/Argentine Mastiffs
The Dogo Argentino is a powerful short-haired hound with a white coat.
This large dog breed adopts harmonious proportions and an athletic, muscular body. The legs are robust, and a long, thick tail emphasizes the silhouette.
The Dogo Argentino's skull is quite characteristic, marked by a powerful, convexly shaped jaw. The dark or hazelnut eyes are rather wide apart, giving an impression of intelligence and ferocity. The ears are high and set wide apart, falling to the sides if not clipped.
Despite their hound-like appearance, Argentine Mastiffs are generally calm and affectionate dogs.
Number 8: Shorkie
The shorkie is a small size dog, being classified as a toy breed. When they are puppies, they barely reach a kilo, while an adult shorkie is in the 3 to the 6-kilogram range, and their height is between 15 and 35 centimetres at the withers. This shows that there is quite a lot of variability, mainly due to the different genetic load of each individual, predominating either the Yorkshire or the Shih Tzu. Its life expectancy is between 11 and 16 years.
The shorkie dog breed exhibits an overwhelming personality; they seem not to be aware of their small size because they have a compelling and dominating character.
They are tremendously impulsive and do not tend to meditate much on what they do, which can get them into trouble with some ease, as they do not see the dangers in time.
Number 7: Siberian Husky
Everyone would love to have this beautiful wolf-like dog from Siberia as a pet. Siberian Husky dogs come in different colours and markings. They have a striking appearance, and their eyes could be multi-coloured or blue-coloured.
The dog is a medium-sized working dog. They were developed to work in packs, and as such, this dog gets along well with other dogs. They have inherent sociability, which makes them indifferent watchdogs. They are quite active and are usually happy when they have a function or work to do. This dog is intelligent and independent.
Although breeding it could be challenging for inexperienced owners. They tend to test any limit you set and can take charge of your house if you show any bit of reluctance. At times, they could be destructive. To breed a Siberian dog, you must try hard to gain its respect to control its dominating personalities. Even though training them requires commitment and endurance, you don’t want to have a dog controlling you.
