It may be a cliche, but dogs really are man's best friend. Even in the worst of moods, they are always happy to hang out with you. Their enthusiastic faces when you get home after a hard day at work can't help but bring a smile to your face. No matter what, they're always happy to be with you.
Unfortunately, it would be a lie to say that humankind reciprocates this friendship. While dog owners are largely an animal-loving bunch, there is a blind spot in our collective consciousness. The occasional conversation about how Western dogs struggle in the heat of India is often dismissed, and replaced by subconsciously apologetic comment about how cute they are.
Sadly however, the fact of the matter is that the breeding and sale of foreign dogs in India is a largely unregulated industry. And, like any large unregulated industry, there is an astonishing amount of exploitation.
