Dogs are always considered as man’s best friend, and with good reason. A well-bred, well trained dog
can be the most loyal, helpful, and obedient pet that any person can have. But what you don’t know is
that some of the dog breeds that we currently know and love, were bred for very different reasons, and
these reasons make them potentially dangerous. Today we will look at 10 of the most dangerous dog
breeds in the world. Watch out for number 1, it bites, literally.
Number 10. The Russian Black Terrier
Looking at this very cute and cuddly dog will definitely make you wonder why it is included in this list.
While true that this breed makes great companions, canine experts are always first to tell people that
this is not a breed for novice pet owners, and you will now find out why.
This breed was developed between the 1920s and 30s by Soviet dog experts, and they were bred with a
very specific purpose; to hunt down humans. They were used to guard Soviet Prison Camps and it was
the dog’s job to make sure that no prisoner escapes, and the dog does its job very diligently, often at the
expense of the prisoner’s life. They were bred to become an unstoppable force when they start an
attack, even going so far as to disobey its handler’s commands.
Nowadays, some people still keep them as pets, but they are notoriously hard to train. But trained really
well, they make excellent companions, but they are also fiercely protective of its family. Never be mean
to someone who owns this breed, as it might see your actions as a potential attack on its pack, and
trigger something deeply embedded inside its brain, and you might end up losing large chunks of your
flesh, or even, your life.
Number 9. The Siberian Husky
One of the most popular dog breeds to keep as pets, many people fall in love at first sight with a
Siberian Husky, and I can’t blame them for doing so. Considered one of the most beautiful and majestic
looking dog breeds, it’s hard not to love these furry creatures. But not all people know that this same,
often mild mannered dog, can be a danger to everyone around them.
The Siberian Husky is a very old breed of dog, perhaps even the oldest. There are evidence of them
existing half a million years ago. It is believed that they originated in Siberia and were used by people of
that time for various tasks, like hunting for big game and pulling sleds heavily laden with meat from the
hunt. They are known for their strength, speed, and endurance, making them valuable companions to
nomadic hunters, but these are the same qualities that make this breed quite dangerous.
Just one Husky can easily overpower a full grown man, if it decides to, but here’s the thing, huskies were
bred to always work in packs. Would you be able to imagine yourself in a situation where you are being
chased by a pack of hungry, ill-behaving huskies? You wouldn’t stand a chance.
Number 8. The Dogo Canario or the Canary Dog
Don’t let the misleading name of this breed fool you. Many countries ban this breed from entering their
territories, much less to be kept as a pet, and they have a good reason why.
The Canary Dog is a large and powerful mastiff-like dog that originated in the Canary Islands. They were
primarily kept by farmers and were used to guard cattle and livestock, but due to the natural strength
and ferociousness of this breed, they were also used to hunt and kill wild boars, and even wild feral
dogs. They have a relentless tenacity that made them very popular in the illegal dog fighting world,
requiring little to no training at all to dispatch would be opponents quickly and viciously.
These characteristics combined make them very excellent guard dogs, but very dangerous tro humans as
well. That’s why you don’t see this breed in many countries. They have learned that it’s better to be safe
than sorry.
Number 7. The Chow Chow
Fierce loyalty and, obviously, looking like a cute and cuddly teddy bear, makes the Chow Chow one of
the most popular dog breeds to keep as pets. But what you didn’t know is that even the dog experts
themselves admit that they are not the perfect pets especially for households that have children. Your
kids are especially vulnerable to this breed when it decides to attack, and believe me, they are not that
hard to provoke.
The problem with the Chow Chow is that it is both phlegmatic and impatient, and although it does show
fierce loyalty to its human family, it has a preference to just one person, the one it considers to be it’s
master. That basically means that a toddler playing with an easily irritable Chow Chow can lead, and has
already lead, to disaster.
