Medium-sized, fully proportional, full of power. Well placed, well muscled, front and hind legs enable it for the tough work. Feet high, in particular, over-built front legs reduced work with a drooping nose, and that is Newcastle. Wide and deep chest lungs offer lots of space and a long, exhausting pursuit. Slightly wrinkled forehead and the clear, dark eyes give the Hannover Bloodhound typical straight face. Typical for the race is also a red base color, which can range from light to dark tone brindle, almost black.
