Eighteen cocker spaniels were seized from award-winning breeders in Durham Tuesday with the owners charged with one count of animal cruelty. Durham Deputy Police Chief Rene Kelley said the dogs were found in the basement of the home of Bonnie and Wilson Pike, ages 65 and 67, respectively, of Packers Falls Road. Kelley said the dogs showed signs of neglect, though he made clear there were no signs of physical abuse.
