A while back we got this crazy idea to get chickens. That thought has let to the obsession of chickens as of recent at our house. I have researched so many different things about how to build the best coop. Nothing is perfect and this build is still far from complete but I feel I have implemented many great and convenient ideas into my coop build.
As we expand our urban homestead we are excited for the wins, yet are prepared for the losses. We did loose 1 chick, but we are grateful we didn't loose more. The garden is growing and we are excited about that as well this year.
The chicken run isn't quite complete but we finished it enough to let our girls outside to enjoy the outdoors. They were certainly feeling cooped up. Which was the same reason we got them into the coop a little prematurely; their brooder quickly became too small for them.
I am very pleased with my SCH 40 PVC waterer setup as well as the 5-gallon feed storage buckets I set up today. I can store 50 lbs of feed. In the future I plan to find a different feed solution which will hopefully waste less feed. Along with that I have some chicken waterer paddle cups in the mail from Amazon that should be here shortly.
I briefly mention my deep litter setup which is a lined 2x6 drawer which will be easily removed for easy cleaning.
THANKS FOR WATCHING!
