Feeding kitchen scraps to your chickens can save you up to 30 percent on your farm input costs.

The great thing about chickens is that processed food waste like nothing else and there isn't a single piece of organic waste that leaves are property. In fact that the nutritional value of the eggs improve when we feed them food waste so all food scraps everything from my kitchen go straight the chickens and they convert that waste into really good protein for us to eat.

Warren Rogers from next door at Wildebeer provides his brewing waste as we mentioned previously that the chickens absolutely love and he says with his chickens that the their production goes up when he feed them that's a lot of roughage. In the brewing process they extract the the sugars and you lose some of those nutrients potentially that the chickens would have been eating but they get the roughage and it can constitute up to 30% off of their feed bill. I mean a 30% saving in any business is is massive- great way to supplement feed and bring down the costs and increase the profitability of you a player operation.

So with the food waste, the other thing the chickens do is that they naturally whenever they out on pasture is scratch around so they they actually start spreading the stuff and activating the composting process so things accelerate and you end up with good compost you can utilise much quicker
