Corn As Your Only Chicken Feed? DON'T!

Dislike 0 Published on 24 Apr 2017

Chickens, especially laying hens, need proper nutrition to thrive and produce the eggs on a nearly daily basis. They need a balance of vitamins and minerals and specifically, CALCIUM and decent protein levels. Corn is only 8% protein and does not provide nutrition that a laying hen requires to thrive and give you the eggs you have her for in the first place.

Chickens need PROTEIN, carbohydrates, and proper vitamins and minerals sufficient to fulfill the function of the bird, whether laying hen or rooster or chick. Corn is completely inadequate as the sole source of nutrition. Also, remember, chickens are OMNIVORES, not vegetarians. They can eat ANIMAL protein, not just grain.
