So you’ve gotten a thousand bucks, say. Maybe it’s a stimulus check, a tax return, or hard-earned dollar bills from blood sweat and tears.
So how many eggs can you grow for $1,000?
Say you don’t have much space. Maybe a small backyard.
Let’s do three chickens and raise them in my small Chicken tractor.
Chicks are gonna cost about $5 apiece with shipping. You buy five, $25
But, then you need a brooder.
A bin.
Some shavings.
A Hoverer or heat lamp.
A Small waterer
A Small feeder
The total cost of brooding supplies $50 to $150. Let’s say $100.

You can build my Chicken tractor for $200.
MY CHICKEN TRACTOR PLANS: https://bit.ly/ChickenTractorPlans
So start-up costs are just $340.
Technically you can depreciate the Tractor and Brooder supplies 10 years and the chicks for 2.5 years.
So that’s $40 a year.
That’s the supplies.
Your ongoing costs are going to be feed.
Organic Feed runs $34 a bags so you’re looking at 76 pounds of feed or $53.04 to get them to the 6 months laying age.
Once they’re adults and laying eggs, a chicken will eat 2 pounds of feed a week. At $34 for a 50-pound bag that’s 68 cents a pound. Or $212.16

First-year of laying eggs will cost ya $252.16
And you’ll get 520 eggs. That’s 43 dozens eggs.
So at 2.5 years you’ve spent $561.04 and gotten 90 dozen eggs and you get some replacement chicks.
At this rate, you’re original $1,000 for nearly 5 years!
But, it gets even better than this…
Now, so you have a larger backyard.
Want to see how this can scale, quickly!
Spend a bit more money upfront and build my ChickShaw Minime for $800 and a Premiere 1 Electric Net kit $500 and a 5-gallon waterer for $50 and 24 chicks at $120. $1,470

At the 1.5 year mark, you’ve raised 366 dozen eggs.
1.5 years has cost you $1005.25
You keep two dozen a week. (104 dozen a year)
Say, you sold the extra 262 at $6 and you’ve earned $1,572
So do you see what’s happened here! You’ve gotten two dozen eggs a week for free and earned over $500!
The numbers are obvious and you’re ready to go.
Now, maybe you need a little know-how, a little guidance.
