I talk about why free ranging is so good both health wise, pocket book wise and generally good for chickens and the owners.
A good heritage bird should be able to forage just about all the food it needs in a pinch so for homesteaders trying to save money, its a great idea if you can do it and you don't have too many predators around. we do have predators but we do our best to limit access by predators and then catch those predators if at all possible!
Also a maple syrup update, how the tree is doing and the associated weather. Farmers live their lives by the weather since that dictates how things grow around the farm and thats the case for sap run season as well!
